
Mid Wales Opera Presents Verdi’s ‘Macbeth’ on MainStages Tour
By Afton MarkayMid Wales Opera has announced that all the venues on its MainStages Tour will feature Verdi’s “Macbeth.”
Verdi’s famed score is brought to life by Canadian baritone Jean-Kristof Bouton in the title role, and soprano Mari Wyn Williams as Lady Macbeth. Tenor Robyn Lyn Evans sings Macduff and bass-baritone Emyr Wyn Jones takes on Banquo. They are joined by community choruses in the modernized Act IV, as a chorus of refugees.
Jonathan Lyness leads the Ensemble Cymru in his newly created orchestration of the opera. The opera will be performed in the English singing translation by Jeremy Sams.
The MainStages Tour will commence at Hafren, Newtown on March 2, and will continue on to venues in Aberystwyth, Bangor, Wrexham, Newport, Hereford, Llanelli, Milford Haven, and finally arriving in Brecon, on March 23.
