Michelle Johnson, Lisa Chavez Headline Sarasota Opera’s ‘Celebration’ Concert

Sarasota Opera has released the full list of artists participating in “Sarasota Opera: A Celebration,” a virtual celebration of the Sarasota Opera community set to take place on April 23, 2021.

The performance will feature soprano Michelle Johnson and tenor Matthew Vickers as well as mezzo-soprano Lisa Chavez,  bass-baritone Stefano De Peppo, and the Sarasota Opera Strong Quartet.

Johnson performed Poulenc’s “Dialogues of the Carmelites” and “Aida” with the Sarasota Opera. She has also appeared with Glimmerglass Music Festival, Opera Santa Barbara, Opera Philadelphia, Chautauqua Symphony Orchestra, and Columbus Symphony, among others.

Chavez is set to appear in “Dido and Aeneas” with the company and has performed with other organizations including New York City Opera, Opera San José, Shreveport Opera, and Knoxville Opera.

Vickers was last seen at the Sarasota Opera as Avito in “L’amore dei tre re” and was praised for his “bright golden voice.”

De Peppo has performed with Sarasota Opera in productions of “Il signor Bruschino” and “La serva padrona.” He has also appeared at the Finnish National Opera, Teatro dell’Opera di Roma, LA Opera, Palm Beach Opera, and Washington National Opera, among others.
