Verdi’s “Aida” is set to open the San Diego Opera’s 2019-20 season.

The production will star Michelle Bradley, who will be making her San Diego Opera debut in the title role, Carl Tanner as Radames, and Olesha Petrova, also in her company debut as Amnesia. The cast will be rounded out by Nelson Martinez as Amonasro, Mikhail Svetlov as the King of Egypt, and Simon Lim as Ramfis.

The theatrical concert performance will use elements from the set owned by San Diego Opera from Tony-award winning designer Michael Yearn, costumes by famed fashion designer Zandra Rhodes, and lighting by Chris Rynn.

The upcoming revival will be the ninth time the company presents the work following performances in 2013, 2008, 2001, 1996, 1983, 1978, 1972 and 1966.

Joseph Colaneri conducts the performances scheduled for Oct. 9, 22, 25, and 27, 2019.
