Michele Spotti Named ‘Chevalier de l’Ordres des Arts et des Lettres’

Famed conductor Michele Spotti has been appointed “Chevalier de l’Ordre des Arts et des Lettres” by the French Ministry of Culture.

Spotti is the Music Director of the Ópera and Philharmonic Orchestra of Marseille since 2023.

“I have just learned that the French Ministry of Culture has appointed me Chevalier de l’Ordre des Arts et des Lettres,” Spotti, who has conducted at the Bayerische Staatsoper in Munich, the Deutsche Oper in Berlin, the Paris Opera, the Arena di Verona, the Teatro dell’Opera di Roma, and the Maggio Musicale Fiorentino, said in a social media post. “Receiving this honor at the age of 32 is a recognition that goes beyond my expectations and makes me deeply humbled.”

Next up for Spotti is his first performances of “Falstaff” at the Festival Verdi in Parma, followed by his Metropolitan Opera debut with “La Traviata.”
