Michele Angelini & Roberta Mantegna Headline New CD/DVD Releases – September 9

This week two new DVDs are set for release. There is also an intriguing choral CD that will include some world premiere recordings. Check it out!

Il Barbiere di Siviglia

Naxos is set to release a new production from the Théâtre des Champs-Élysées, Paris with Florian Sempey in the title role, Michele Angelini as the Count, Catherine Trottmann as Rosina, and Basilio performed by Robert Gleadow.

The production, which was filmed on Dec. 13 and 16, 2017, was conducted by Jeremie Rhorer and directed by Laurent Pelly.

Lamentationes

The GRAMMY-nominated vocal quartet New York Polyphony releases an album of rarely heard works from late 15th-century and early 16th-century Spanish composers Francisco de Peñalosa, Pedro de Escobar, and Francisco Guerrero. The release also includes world premiere recordings of Peñalosa’s “Lamentations” and movements of his Missa L’homme armé.

Le Trouvère

Verdi’s masterpiece gets a rare French release from the Verdi Festival Parma. The production by Robert Wilson stars Giuseppe Gipali in the title role, Roberta Mantegna, Nino Surguladze, and Franco Vassallo.

Roberto Abbado conducts the production which is set to be released by Dynamic  on DVD, Blu-Ray, and CD.
