Michael Weinius & Ricarda Merbeth Lead Royal Opera’s ‘Tristan Und Isolde’

Christof Loy’s Olivier Award-winning production of Wagner’s “Tristan und Isolde” returns to The Royal Opera, Covent Garden on April 27, 2020.

The revival production is set to star Wagnerian Swedish tenor Michael Weinius and German soprano Ricarda Merbeth making their Royal Opera debuts. The two will be joined by German bass Franz-Josef Selig as King Marke and Romanian mezzo-soprano Ruxandra Donose in her role debut as Brangäne. Danish bass-baritone Johan Reuter will sing the role of Tristan’s confidante Kurwenal and Russian conductor Semyon Bychkov will conduct the masterpiece.

Merbeth has performed at the Teatro alla Scala, La Monnaie, Deutsche Oper Berlin, Wiener Staatsoper, and Teatro Regio di Torino.

Meanwhile, Weinius has performed at Oper Leipzig, Royal Opera Stockholm, and Deutsche Oper am Rhein.

“Tristan und Isolde” opens at the Royal Opera House on April 27, 2020 and runs through May 11, 2020.
