Michael Spyres & Pavel Cernoch Headline New CD/DVD Releases – August 5

This week, a slew of rarely performed works are set for release, including live recordings and some world premieres.

La Nonne Sanglante

Gounod’s rarely performed work gets a release from the Opera Comique. The new release, by Naxos, stars  Vannina Santoni, Marion Lebègue, and Michael Spyres.

Laurence Equilbey conducts the Insula Orchestra in David Bobee’s production from 2018.

Jane Eyre

Louis Karchin’s modern work, based on Emily Bronte’s classic novel with a libretto by Diane Osen, gets a world premiere recording. The new work stars Jennifer Zetlan in the title role and Ryan McPherson as Rochester. Karchin conducts the new recording for Naxos with the orchestra of the league of composers.

Siegfried

Lise Lindstrom and Stefan Vinke get a recording of the third act of Wagner’s third opera in the Ring Cycle. SWR Music releases the recording with the Deutsche Radio Philharmonic conducted by Pietari Inkinen.

Euryanthe

Stefan Cerny, Norman Reinhardt, and Jacquelyn Weber star in the rarely performed work in a new recording by Capriccio. Constantin Trinks conducts the Vienna Radio Symphony Orchestra in a live recording from the Theater an der Wien.

Amleto

Iulia Maria DanDshamilja Kaiser, and Pavel Cernoch star in Franco Faccio’s masterful work which captures the spirit of Shakspeare’s play Hamlet. The opera is recorded from the Bregenz Festival and conducted by Paolo Carignani. Naxos releases.
