Michael Spyres, Huw Montague Rendall, Freddie Ballentine, Elsa Dreisig, Lauranne Oliva, Stéphane Degout, & Julie Roset Lead Opéra national du Rhin’s 2026-27 Season

The Opéra national du Rhin has announced its 2026-27 season.

Marko Letonja and Michael Spyres team up with Brigitta Listra and the Orchestre philharmonique de Strasbourg for an evening of music by Wagner, Massenet, Schreker, Bizet, Korngold, and Richard Strauss.

Performance Date: Sept. 14 & 15, 2026


Samuel Hasselhorn and Ammiel Bushakevitz perform in recital. 

Performance Date: Oct. 13, 2026


Eugénie Joneau leads Strauss’ “Ariadne auf Naxos” with AJ Glueckert, Julie Roset, and Dorottya Lang. Christoph Koncz conducts the production by Myriam Marzouki. 

Performance Dates: Oct. 31-Nov. 29, 2026


Nikola Hillebrand, Mauro Peter, Huw Montague Rendall, Anthea Barać, Frederic Jost, Alysia Hanshaw, Inès Prevet, and Pierre Romainville lead Schumann’s “Le Paradis et la Péri.” Antonello Manacorda conducts the production by Bertrand Couderc.

Performance Dates: Nov. 26 & 27, 2026


Axelle Saint-Cirel and Susan Manoff perform works by Benjamin Britten, Samuel Barber and Vaughan Williams.

Performance Date: Dec. 8, 2026


Monteverdi’s “Vêpres de la Vierge” will feature Lionel Sow and the Orchestre Balthasar Neumann, Solistes et Chœur Balthasar Neumann. 

Performance Dates: Dec. 14, 2026


Jessica Hopkins, Naïma Wanshe, Inès Prevet, Arwen Tanguy, and Eduard Ferenczi Gurban star in Offenbach’s La Valse rêvée d’Offenbach.” Guillemette Daboval conducts the production by Barthélémy Fortier. 

Performance Dates: Dec. 18, 2026-Feb. 6, 2027


Guillaume Andrieux, Lauranne Oliva, Stéphane Degout, Lucile Richardot, Edwin Crossley-Mercer, Céleste Pinel and Jiawen Li star in Debussy’s “Pelléas et Mélisande.” Louis Langrée conducts the production by Richard Brunel. 

Performance Dates: Feb. 7-28, 2027


Stéphane Degout and Quatuor Diotima perform music by Mahler and Schönberg. 

Performance Date: Feb. 14, 2027


Prokofiev’s “The Love for Three Oranges” will star Piotr Micinski, Linard Vrielink, Lucie Roche, Damien Pass, Robert Lewis, Marc Mauillon, Daniel Miroslaw, Gabrielle Philiponet, Céleste Pinel, Giulia Scopelitti, Bernadette Johns, Lucy Evans, Jean-Fernand Setti, Aleksandre Khukhushvili, and Jiawen Li. Aziz Shokhakimov and Sunny Xia conduct the production by Laurent Pelly. 

Performance Dates: March 15-April 6, 2027


Freddie Ballentine and Kunal Lahiry performs music by Schubert, Purcell, Copland, Rachmaninov, and Nina Simone. 

Performance Date: March 18, 2027


Aleksei Isaev leads Verdi’s “Rigoletto” with Mario Rojas, Julia Muzychenko, Sulkhan Jaiani, and Héloïse Mas. Clelia Cafiero and Sunny Xia conducts the production Eddy Garaudel. 

Performance Dates: April 24-May 16, 2027


Elsa Dreisig and Joseph Middleton perform a recital of music by Schumann, Poulenc, Viardot, and Cécile Chaminade.

Performance Date: May 10, 2027


Britten’s “Le Petit Ramoneur” with Jessica Hopkins, Lucy Evans, Arwen Tanguy, and Eduard Ferenczi Gurban. Sandrine Abello conducts the production by Johanna Boyé. 

Performance Dates: May 19-June 12, 2027


Lauranne Oliva stars in Donizetti’s “Lucie de Lammermoor” with Julien Dran, Kartal Karagedik, and Guilhem Worms. Karen Kamensek conducts the production by Evgeny Titov. 

Performance Dates: June 5-22, 2027


Stéphanie d’Oustrac and Pascal Jourdan close out the season in recital. 

Performance Date: June 8, 2027
