Michael Hersch to World Premiere ‘And We, Each’

This season Michael Hersch’s new opera in collaboration with poet/memoirist Shane McCrae “And We, each” will make its world premiere.

The work will be produced by the Baltimore-based organization Mind on Fire, “and we, each” will take the stage at Baltimore Theater Project on Sept. 28 & 29, 2024.

There will also be performances at the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg Center in Washington, DC on Oct. 13 and at the National Sawdust in Brooklyn, NY on Feb. 6.

James Daniel will direct the work which will star soprano Ah Young Hong and Jesse Blumberg. They will be joined by flutist Emi Ferguson, bass clarinetist Gleb Kanasevich, violinist Adda Kridler, violist Leah Asher, and cellist Coleman Itzkoff.

Tito Muñoz will conduct.

Hersch is one of the leading composers of his generation and is known for music that explores the frontiers of human emotion and experience. McCrae is a National Book Award finalist and the celebrated author of eight poetry collections.
