Michael Fraccaro Appointed New Board Chair of Young People’s Chorus of New York City
By Chris RuelYoung People’s Chorus of New York City (YPC) has announced a leadership change. Michael Fraccaro has been named the organization’s Board of Directors Chair. He will replace Adam Chinn, who has served as the Board Chair since 2012.
Fraccaro is the Chief People Officer at Mastercard and has been a member of the YPC Board since 2018. In his role at Mastercard, Fraccar demonstrated a commitment to organizational growth, employing strategies that resonate with YPC’s mission to broaden and deepen its impact on young people and the choral community.
With numerous industry accolades for his DEI work at Mastercard, Mr. Fraccaro joins YPC, citing a close alignment between his values and YPC’s inclusive mission for youth music education.
“YPC has greatly benefitted from Michael’s time and expertise on our Board of Directors,” stated YPC Artistic Director and Founder Francisco J. Núñez, in a press release. “I am deeply honored and grateful for his willingness to deepen his commitment to YPC by serving as our Board Chair. I know I join the rest of the Board and our leadership team when I say I am looking forward to working with him as we continue to change the lives of thousands of youth through music.”
Fraccaro steps into YPC after a Summer tour that saw the organization win five gold medals at the 12th World Choir Games, with three as world champions. YPC also toured Japan and Korea before beginning a residency at Music Academy in Santa Barbara.
“I want to send a strong shout-out to Adam Chinn, who has done a great job of elevating YPC. As Chair, I am looking to build on those foundations,” said Fraccaro in a press statement. “My vision is to look for ways to continue strengthening connections to schools and communities at large and bring stronger visibility to YPC and its mission. Part of that vision is to ensure we’re building a legacy for the future that is self-sustaining. When people think of who the best chorus is in the world, it’s YPC.”
