Michael Fabiano Lead San Francisco Opera’s ‘Un Ballo in Maschera’

The San Francisco Opera is set to open its 102nd season on Sept. 6 with Verdi’s “Un Ballo in Maschera” and Opera Ball, the opening night benefit co-hosted with the San Francisco Opera Guild.

Caroline H. Hume Music Director Eun Sun Kim leads the production by Italian director Leo Muscato.

The international cast will led by Michael Fabiano as Gustavus III, Lianna Haroutounian as Amelia, and Amartuvshin Enkhbat as Renato. Mei Gui Zhang rounds out the cast as Oscar with Judit Kutasi as Ulrica, Adam Lau as Samuel, Jongwon Han as Tom, Christopher Oglesby as the Chief Magistrate, and Samuel Kidd and Thomas Kinch as Christiano and Amelia’s servant.

The opera will be performed seven times from Sept. 6 to 27, 2024 and the Sept. 15 performance will be live streamed at 2 p.m. and available to watch on demand for 48 hours beginning Sept. 16 at 10 a.m.
