Michael Chioldi, Tracy Dahl & Jonelle Sills Highlight Vancouver Opera’s 2025-26 Seasom

The Vancouver Opera has announced its 2025-26 season featuring three productions.

In a statement, Tom Wright, Vancouver Opera General Director said, “For our 66th season, we’re bringing operas by the art form’s greatest composers to the Queen Elizabeth Theatre stage. These timeless works run the gamut—in some cases the gauntlet—of emotions, while exploring social norms and the consequences of personal choice. Verdi’s Rigoletto is a tense, dramatic tale of revenge, fate, corruption, and the father-daughter bond. Through comedy, Mozart’s Così fan tutte investigates love, fidelity, and moral ambiguity. To close the season, Puccini’s La Bohème will take us to 1800s Paris, where youth’s passions find their opposite in the fragility of life and love, and idealism strives valiantly in the face of reality.”

The season opens with Verdi’s “Rigoletto” in a production by Glynis Leyshon and conducted by Music Director Jacques Lacombe. Michael Chioldi sings the title role alongside Sarah Dufresne as Gilda and tenor Yongzhao Yu as the Duke.

Performance Dates: Oct. 25-Nov. 2, 2025

The second production of the season will be Mozart’s “Così fan tutte.” The production will feature Rob Herriot directing a new production. The work will be conducted by Leslie Dala and will star Tracy Dahl as Despina and Daniel Okulitch as Don Alfonso.

Performance Dates: Feb. 7-15, 2026

The season closes with Puccini’s “La Bohème” with VO Music Director Emeritus Jonathan Darlington leading a cast that includes Jonelle Sills and Brenna Corner.

Performance Dates: April 25-May 3, 2025

Vancouver Opera will also be presenting several other special events, including the the beloved, free, and family-friendly Opera in the Park on July 13, 2025.
