Miah Persson, Karen Slack & Sarah Connolly Lead Pacific Symphony’s 2026-27 Season

The Pacific Symphony Orchestra has announced its 2026-27 season. Here are the vocal performances.

Alexander Shelley conducts Mahler’s Symphony No. 2 with Miah Persson and Dame Sarah Connolly.

Performance Date: Oct. 1-3, 2026


Händel’s “Messiah” will be performed for the holiday season.

Performance Date: Dec. 6, 2026


Alexander Shelley conducts Runestad’s “A Silence Haunts Me” and Beethoven’s Symphony No. 9, “Choral.”

Performance Dates: Feb. 6, 7 & 9, 2027


Alexander Shelley conducts John Adams’ “Nixon in China” in a semi-staged version by Elkhanah Pulitzer.

Performance Dates: April 8-13, 2027


Alexander Shelley conducts and Karen Slack joins forces for in the West Coast premiere of the orchestral version of “African Queens.” The powerful new work shares the stories of seven great queens and warrior women from the African continent through arias composed by each member of the “Blacknificent 7” collective of Black contemporary composers: Jasmine Barnes, Damien Geter, Jessie Montgomery, Shawn Okpebholo, Dave Ragland, Carlos Simon, and Joel Thompson.

The concert also include Jennifer Higdon’s “blue cathedral,” Ravel’s “La Valse, poème chorégraphique,” and Gershwin’s “An American in Paris.”

Performance Dates: June 10-12, 2027
