On July 9, 2019, Mezzo TV is set to present Puccini’s “Tosca’ from the Festival D’Aix-En-Provence.

The new production by Christophe Honore is set to star Angel Blue in the title role and her role debut and Catherine Malfitano as La Prima Donna. The cast is rounded out by Joseph Calleja as Cavaradossi and Alexey Markov, who portrays the villainous Scarpia. Daniele Rustioni conducts the experimental production, which shows a diva consumed by art.

The production marks the first time that the festival is presenting “Tosca” and is set to use video images from the 1992 recording of Malfitano and Placido Domingo.

The production will also be streamed on Arte and is set to be brought to the Opera National de Lyon next season with Blue and Malfitano starring.

“Tosca” will be performed until July 22, 2019.
