In continuation of the 2019-20 Great Performances Series, PBS will present the Live in HD broadcast of “Agrippina” from the Metropolitan Opera on Sunday, June 7, 2020

The broadcast will kick off at 12 p.m. EDT. The cast includes Joyce DiDonato in the title role, Brenda Rae, Kate Lindsey, Matthew Rose, and Iestyn Davies. Harry Bicket conducts the performance which was hosted by Deborah Voigt.

“Agrippina” was one of the major hits of the Met Opera’s 2019-20 season, with OperaWire’s review noting, “There is tremendous passion and attention to detail onstage (of which I didn’t even describe a sizable percentage) and is equally compelling for anyone witnessing it unfold. And the best news? It will probably only get better through the ensuing performances, which means that anyone heading to New York in the next month should be getting their tickets right now.”

This was the last of the Live in HD performances during the 2019-20 season. The company still had HD broadcasts of “Der Fliegende Holländer,” “Tosca,” and “Maria Stuarda” scheduled before the COVID-19 crisis forced a lockdown in theaters around the world. As such, this concludes the series in 2019-20.
