The Metropolitan Opera’s 2023–24 Live in HD season will continue with the live transmission of Verdi’s “Nabucco.”

The broadcast, which will take place on Jan. 6, features Georgian baritone George Gagnidze in the title role alongside Ukrainian soprano Liudmyla Monastyrska as Abigaille.

They are joined by Russian mezzo-soprano Maria Barakova, South Korean tenor SeokJong Baek, and Ukrainian bass Dmitry Belosselskiy. Italian maestro Daniele Callegari conducts the performance in Elijah Moshinsky’s legendary production.

When the production was first reprised in the fall OperaWire noted, “Maria Barakova & SeokJong Baek impress” and “Gagnidze sang gorgeous legato lines.”

Habib Azar will direct the Live in HD presentation for cinemas, with soprano Angel Blue providing exclusive behind-the-scenes access and conducting interviews with the cast and creative team during intermission.
