Metropolitan Opera to Present ‘The Amazing Adventures of Kavalier & Clay’ in Live in HD

The Metropolitan Opera is set to present Mason Bates’s “The Amazing Adventures of Kavalier & Clay” in its live in HD series.

The performance, which was recorded live earlier this season, will be presented in cinemas on Jan. 24 in 800 theaters around the world.

The opera by Mason Bates and Gene Scheer is conducted by Music Director, Yannick Nézet-Séguin and stars baritone Andrzej Filończyk as Joe Kavalieand tenor Miles Mykkanen as Sam Clay.

The cast also includes soprano Lauren Snouffer as Sarah Kavalier, mezzo-soprano Sun-Ly Pierce as Rosa Saks, baritone Edward Nelson as Tracy Bacon, and bass-baritones Patrick Carfizzi and Craig Colclough as Sheldon Anapol and Gerhard, respectively.

Gary Halvorson directs the Live in HD special presentation for cinemas, which will feature exclusive behind-the-scenes content during intermission.

When the opera opened earlier this year OperaWire raved stating, “Andrzej Filończyk and Miles Mykkanen were the pillars on which the entire enterprise rose.”
