Metropolitan Opera to Present ‘Celebrating Stephen Schwartz’

The Metropolitan Opera has announced that it will be presenting “Celebrating Stephen Schwartz” on Dec. 11, 2023.

The special benefit concert will celebrate the 75th birthday of Stephen Schwartz, the Oscar and Grammy Award–winning composer of Broadway smash-hits “Wicked,” “Godspell,” and “Pippin,” and “lyricist” for film classics “Pocahontas,” “The Hunchback of Notre Dame,” “Enchanted,” and more.

The event will include soloists Shoshana Bean, Angel Blue, Kristin Chenoweth, Anthony Roth Costanzo, Raúl Esparza, Sutton Foster, Nick Jonas, Lindsay Mendez, Alex Newell, Leslie Odom Jr., David Phelps, Ben Platt, Paulo Szot, Jeanine Tesori, and Trisha Yearwood. 

Rob Fisher conducts a production by Michael Mayer. 

All proceeds of this special event support the Metropolitan Opera.
