Metropolitan Opera to Present ‘Ainadamar’ in Future Season

The Metropolitan Opera is set to present “Ainadamar” by Osvaldo Golijov during the 2024-25 season.

The New York Times is reporting that Deborah Colker’s production, currently being performed at the Detriot Opera will be shown at the Met in two seasons.

The new production is currently starring Gabriella Reyes, Daniela Mack, and Vanessa Vasquez and is also set to premiere at the Welsh National Opera. It originated in 2022 at the Scottish Opera and received rave reviews with teh Guardian calling it “vibrant and deft.”

“Ainadamar” is the first opera by Argentinian composer Osvaldo Golijov with a libretto by American playwright David Henry Hwang. It premiered in Tanglewood in 2003 and after major revisions, the new version was given its premiere at the Santa Fe Opera in 2005. More details on the Met production are set to be announced in the coming months.
