Metropolitan Opera Singer Renee Tatum To Host Conference with CSUF University Singers

Metropolitan Opera star Renee Tatum will speak about her career to Cal State Fullerton College of the Arts students via video conference on May 5 at 4 p.m.

Tatum will speak with members of CSUF’s University Singers, directed by Robert Istad. The group regularly performs with professional orchestras, including the Los Angeles Philharmonic, the Pacific Symphony, the Hollywood Bowl Orchestra and the Boston Pops Esplanade Orchestra. Next season Tatum returns to the Boston Lyric Opera for “Champio.”

The CSUF alumna and mezzo-soprano has performed with The National Theater in Taiwan, San Francisco Opera, The Tanglewood Festival, Grand Tetons Music Festival, Boston Lyric Opera, and The Metropolitan Opera.

The university’s School of Music also will host its May 7 Scholarship and Awards Convocation with Special Guest Speaker Carl St.Clair, music director of the Pacific Symphony for 30 years.
