Metropolitan Opera Guild’s 2019-20 Educational Program To Feature ‘Magical Mezzos,’ ‘Wagner Across Borders’

The Metropolitan Opera Guild has announced its education program for the 2019-20 season.

The program will kick off with “Great Duets,” which is set for Oct. 23, 30, and Nov. 6, 2019. It will feature the music of Puccini, Mozart, and Massenet. Jane Marsch will lead the course.

“Wagner Across Borders” is set for Jan. 15, 22, 29 and Feb. 5, 2020 under the tutelage of Matthew Timmerman.

Ira Siff will explore the world of “Magical Mezzos” on April 22, 29 and May 6, 2020.

The organization will offer up “Touchstones of 20th-century Opera” in its Continuing Education; the course will feature Naomi Barrettara and wil take place Oct. 15, 22, 29, and Nov. 5. Additionally, those interested in the Online Learning will have access to “Operatic Libretti and Librettists,” “The Ring: Music Motifs and Magic,” and “Introduction to Score Reading.
