Metropolitan Opera Guild Announces ‘Opera Explorers’

By Francisco Salazar

The Metropolitan Opera Guild has announced a new family program, “Opera Explorers.”

The new program will be a series of hour-long workshops that occur on Saturdays in April 2022 and is specifically geared toward parents with young children ages 4-6 who want to actively participate in an arts program as a family.

The program will utilize the various elements of opera to explore scenes from “The Magic Flute,” “Rusalka,” “Cinderella,” and “Hansel and Gretel.”

In a statement, Lincoln Center Soprano and Guild Teaching Artist Elizabeth Van Os, “I think every child should have the opportunity to have an adventure in music and opera, and I’m so excited to lead this group of explorers through some of my favorite moments and characters. Opera Explorers are hands on, adventurous, and curious, and I’m excited to see where we go.”

The program will be presented between April 2-30, 2022 at the Guild’s Opera Learning Center.
