Metropolitan Opera Announces New Cast Change for ‘Rigoletto’
By Francisco SalazarThe Metropolitan Opera has announced a cast change for its Jan. 16 performance of “Rigoletto.”
The company said, “For tonight’s performance of Verdi’s ‘Rigoletto,’ the role of the Duke of Mantua will sung by Zach Borichevsky.” He replaces the originally scheduled Pene Pati.
Borichevsky made his Metropolitan Opera debut as Edmondo in “Manon Lescaut” in 2016 and then reprised the role the following season. This will mark his debut as a principal soloist. The tenor has performed at the Santa Fe Opera, Teatro Municipal de Santiago, Nashville Opera, Virginia Opera, and Florentine Opera.
Borichevsky is set to join a cast that includes Luca Salsi, Erin Morley, Rihab Chaieb, and Soloman Howard. Daniele Callegari conducts the Barlett Sher production.
Pene Pati returns to the production on Jan. 19, 2025.
