Metropolitan Opera Announces Cast Change for ‘The Hours’

By Francisco Salazar

The Metropolitan Opera has announced a cast change for its production of “The Hours” on Dec. 4.

The company said that the role of Sally will be sung by Eve Gigliotti replacing Denyce Graves.

Gigliotti made her Met debut in 2010 in the role of Mercédès in “Carmen” and is set to sing Annina in “La Traviata,” Nelly in “The Hours,” Giovanna in “Rigoletto,” Mother Jeanne in “Dialogues des Carmélites,” and Mary in “Der Fliegende Holländer” this season.

The mezzo-soprano will sing alongside Renée Fleming, Kelli O’Hara, Joyce DiDonato, Kathleen Kim, Sylvia D’Eramo, Denyce Graves, John Holiday, William Burden, Sean Panikkar, Kyle Ketelsen, and Brandon Cedel.

Graves returns to the production on Dec. 7.
