The Metropolitan Opera has announced a cast change for its production of “Lucia di Lammermoor.”

The company noted that Christian Van Horn will replace Matthew Rose for the May 17 and 21 performances in the role of Raimondo.

Van Horn took to social media and noted, “Surprised and humbled this week to join the cast of Met Opera’s new production of Lucia di Lammermoor and wishing my brother Matthew Rose a quick trip on the covid ride.”

Van Horn is a Richard Tucker Award winner who is currently in rehearsals for the Met’s production of “The Rake’s Progress.” He recently appeared in the company’s “Le Nozze di Figaro.” The bass has performed at the Paris Opera, Lyric Opera of Chicago, and San Francisco Opera, among others.

The bass joins a cast that includes Nadine Sierra, Javier Camarena, and Artur Ruciński. Riccardo Frizza conducts the final two performances.
