Metropolitan Opera Announces Cast Change for ‘La Traviata’

The Metropolitan Opera has announced a cast change for Verdi’s “La Traviata” on Feb. 3, 2020.
The company announced that Won Whi Choi will make his Met debut as Alfredo in tonight’s performance, replacing Dmytro Popov, who is ill.
Choi is a festival singer with Theater Erfurt where he has performed such roles as Romeo in “Romeo et Juliette,” Don Jose in “Carmen,” Andres in “Wozzeck,” and Ferrando in “Così fan tutte.” He has also performed Opera Orlando, Odyssey Opera, Nashville Opera, and Sefestspiele Morbisch.
Choi joins a cast that includes Aleksandra Kurzak and Quinn Kelsey. Karel Marek Chicon conducts Michael Mayer production.
Dmytro Popov returns for one more performance on Feb. 7, 2020.
