Metropolitan Opera Announces Cast Change for ‘Der Rosenkavalier’

The Metropolitan Opera has announced a cast change for its production of “Der Rosenkavalier.”

The company said that Samantha Hankey will take over the role of Octavian replacing Isabel Leonard, who was originally announced.

Hankey made her debut at the met in a production of “Mephistofele” and has performed in productions of “Adriana Lecouvreur,” “Rigoletto,” and “Carmen.” She is set to make her Santa Fe Opera debut this season in “Pelléas et Mélisande.”

She joins a cast that includes Lise Davidsen, Erin Morley, Brian Mulligan, Günther Groissböck, Katharine Goeldner, René Barbera, and Kang Wang. Simone Young conducts the productions by Robert Carsen.

Leonard returns to the stage for recitals with Pablo Sainz-Villegas in May.
