Metropolitan Opera Announces Another Cast Change for ‘Moby Dick’

The Metropolitan Opera has announced a new cast change for “Moby Dick” on March 19, 2025.

The company said that Alex Boyer will sing the role of Captain Ahab, replacing Brandon Jovanovich.

Boyer previously made his Met debut on March 11, 2025 also replacing Jovanovich, and then performed on March 15. in “Moby Dick.”

The tenor has performed at the West Edge Opera, San Francisco Opera, San Diego Opera, Opera Southwest, and Hawaii Opera Theater. He has performed the role of Captain Ahab in Jake Heggie’s “Moby Dick” at the Chicago Opera Theater. 

Boyer is set to join a cast that includes Janai Brugger, Stephen Costello, William Burden, Peter Mattei, Malcolm MacKenzie, and Ryan Speedo Green. Karen Kamensek conducts the production by Leonard Foglia.

Jovanovich, who scored rave reviews for his performance, is set to return to the stage on March 22. “Moby Dick” runs through March 29, 2025.
