Metropolitan Opera Announces Another Cast Change for ‘Lohengrin’

By Francisco Salazar

The Metropolitan Opera has announced a cast change for its performance of Wagner’s “Lohengrin” on March 5, 2023.

The company said that for “this afternoon’s performance of Wagner’s Lohengrin, the role of Telramund will be sung by Thomas Hall, replacing Evgeny Nikitin, who is ill.”

Hall made his Met on March 2, also replacing Nikitin who is ill. Hall made his European debut in 2011, singing Telramund at the Savonlinna Opera Festival, and it has remained in his repertoire. This spring, the heldenbaritone sings the role of The Dutchman in Staatstheater Karlsruhe’s production of Wagner’s “Flying Dutchman.”

He joins a cast that includes Piotr Beczala, Tamara Wilson, Christine Goerke and Gunther Groissbock. Yannick Nézet-Séguin conducts the new production by Francois Girard.
