Metropolitan Opera Announces 2018 Lineup Of Summer Encore Screenings

The Metropolitan Opera has announced its Live in HD Summer Encores series.

The Met will rebroadcast four popular operas including Puccini’s “Madama Butterfly,” starring Roberto Alagna and Kristine Opolais from 2016, followed by  Verdi’s “Il Trovatore” starring Anna Netrebko, Dmitri Hvorostovsky, Dolora Zajick, and Yonghoon Lee from 2015.

The series will then feature Tchaikovsky’s “Eugene Onegin” with Renée Fleming, Hvorostovsky, and Ramón Vargas from 2007 and will conclude with Puccini’s “Turandot” with Nina Stemme, Marco Berti, and Anita Hartig from 2016.

The Summer Encore series begins on June 20, 2018 in the U.S. and Canada, with dates varying internationally. Local listings will be available worldwide at a local theater.

The 2018-19 HD season is set to begin in October with “Aida” starring Anna Netrebko followed by “Samson et Dalila” with Elina Garanca and Roberto Alagna. It will also include “Marnie,” “Adriana Lecouvreur,” and “Die Walkure” among others.
