The Metropolitan Opera has added an additional performance of “Tristan und Isolde” due to overwhelming demand.
The company said that the additional performance will be on April 4, at 12 p.m. and tickets will go on sale on Monday, March 9, at 12 p.m. ET.
The cast will include soprano Lise Davidsen as Isolde, and the Met’s Jeanette Lerman-Neubauer Music Director, Yannick Nézet-Séguin as the conductor.
They will be joined by tenor Stuart Skelton as Tristan and bass Stephen Milling as King Marke. The rest of the original cast, including mezzo-soprano Ekaterina Gubanova as Brangäne and bass-baritone Tomasz Konieczny as Kurwenal, remains the same.
Skelton is one of the leading interpreters of Tristan, having previously appeared in the role at the Glyndebourne Festival, Bavarian State Opera, Festival d’Aix-en-Provence, and at the Met. Milling has most recently sung King Marke with the Royal Danish Opera and Staatsoper Berlin.
“Tristan und Isolde” opens on March 9 with Michael Spyres as Tristan.
