Metropolitan Opera 2018-19 Live in HD Preview: Roberto Alagna & Elina Garanca Dominate in ‘Samson et Dalila’

A few weeks back it was all about Anna Netrebko’s “Aida.” Now this weekend, the Met Opera will continue its Live in HD series with a performance of “Samson et Dalila” on Saturday, Oct. 20, 2018.

The broadcast, which kicks off 12:55 p.m. Eastern time, will feature the company’s opening night production, which is set to star Roberto Alagna and Elina Garanca as the biblical characters.

They will be accompanied by conductor sir. Mark Elder, as well as baritone Laurent Naouri. The cast also includes Elchin Azizov and Dmitry Belosselskiy. The opera runs for an estimated four hours with two 30-minute intermissions.

This is the second Live in HD transmission of the season. It will be followed by the star-studded “La Fanciulla del West” on Oct. 27, the US Premiere of “Marnie” on Nov. 10, a new production of “La Traviata” on Dec. 15, another new production of “Adriana Lecouvreur” on Jan. 12, a classic rendition of “Carmen” on Feb. 2, “La Fille du Régiment” on March 2, “Die Walküre” on March 30, and “Dialogues des Carmélites” on May 11.
