By Francisco Salazar

The Metropolitan Opera has announced a cast change for its production of “Rodelinda” on March 15, 2022.

The company noted that for this evening’s performance, the role of Eduige will be sung by Sarah Mesko. Mesko will replace Sasha Cooke.

Mesko made her Met debut during the 2016-17 season as the Second Lady in “The Magic Flute.” She has since been on the roster for “Semiramide,” “Agrippina,” and “Carmen.” Mesko has also performed at the Houston Grand Opera, Opera Theatre of Saint Louis, Tulsa Opera, Edmonton Opera, and Glimmerglass Festival.

The mezzo is set to join a cast that includes Elza van den Heever, Iestyn Davies, Anthony Roth Costanzo, Paul Appleby, and Adam Plachetka. Harry Bicket conducts the production by Stephen Wadsworth.

Cooke returns to the production on March 19, 2022.
