The finalists for the Metropolitan Opera National Council Auditions have been revealed. The nine finalists are set to compete in the Grand Finals on the Met stage on March 31, 2019.

The finalists include three tenors (Piotr Buszewski, Dashaui Chen, and Miles Mykkanen), three sopranos (Alaysha Fox, Meghan Kasanders, and Elena Villalón), one mezzo-soprano (Michaela Wolz), one baritone (Thomas Glass), and one bass (William Guanbo Su).

The finalists were announced on Sunday, March 24 after the semifinals that same day.

Buszewski took on some truly rare repertory with music from Donizetti’s “Il Duca d’Alba” and Moniuszko’s “Straszny Dwór,” while Mykkanen went with familiar classics in ““Dies Bildnis ist bezaubernd schön” from Mozart’s “Die Zauberflöte” and “Kuda, kuda” from “Eugene Onegin.”Kassander showcased a wide range of repertory with music from “Tannhäuser” followed by that of “Iphigénie en Tauride,” and Chen took on arias from “Lucia di Lammermoor” and “Don Giovani.” For Fox’s audition, the soprano picked arias from “Das Wunder der Heliane” and “Don Giovanni” and Glass went with music from “Moby Dick” and “Faust.” Meanwhile Michaeal Wolz took on two solos from “Orfeo ed Euridice” and “L’Amico Fritz.” Guanbo Su took on excerpts from “Die Zauberflöte” and “Orlando,” while, Villalón performed arias from “Le Comte Ory” and “Der Rosenkavalier.”
