Met Opera National Council Audition Winner Gets Major Contract
By David SalazarFresh off of being one of the winners of the famed Met Opera National Council Auditions, Vanessa Vasquez has scored a deal with Columbia Artists.
The company made an announcement via Twitter to congratulate the soprano.

Vasquez was one of six winners at this year’s Met Opera National Council Auditions, performing such hits as “E strano…Sempre Libera” from Verdi’s “La Traviata” and “Un bel di, vedremo” from Puccini’s “Madama Butterfly.
Vasquez is the recipient of awards from such competitions as the Licia Albanese-Puccini Foundation International Vocal Competition and the Giulio Gari Foundation International Vocal Competition, among others.
She is a third-year resident at Academy of Vocal Arts where she has sung such roles as Gilda in “Rigoletto,” Mimì in “La Bohème,” Donna Anna in “Don Giovanni,” and Giorgetta in “Il Tabarro.” Later this season, she will make her professional debut as Liù in Turandot with Des Moines Metro Opera.
Her resume features performances with such organizations as the Philadelphia Orchestra, Opera UCLA, and Astoria Music Festival, among others.
