The Metropolitan Opera has confirmed that it will be reviving Philip Glass’ “Akhnaten” during the 2021-22 season.

Moreover, the company is offering some lucky fans with an opportunity to get early tickets for the production.

“The response to this fall’s new production of Philip Glass’s Akhnaten was so overwhelming that we’ve decided to bring the opera back during the 2021–22 season! And to celebrate this exciting announcement, we’re giving away five pairs of tickets for the revival’s opening night performance,” the company announced via Instagram. “Visit metopera.org/contests/akhnaten-return-drawing/ to receive information on Akhnaten’s return, and you’ll be automatically entered for the drawing. Contest ends December 31, 2019—see site for official rules and details.”

“The 2019-20 season is still young, but ‘Akhnaten’ undeniably rules at the Met and it may be some time before its audiences see anything of this divine quality,” stated OperaWire’s review of the production.
