The Metropolitan Opera has unveiled its 2023 Summer Recital Series, set to bring opera to all five New York City boroughs in late June. Featuring both young and established artists, the concerts will include famous arias, duets, and other classical favorites.

The series begins on June 20, 2023, at Central Park’s SummerStage in Manhattan, before moving to Brooklyn Bridge Park (Brooklyn) on June 23.

Performers include Met soprano Gabriella Reyes, who will star in the upcoming production of Daniel Catán’s “Florencia en el Amazonas“; baritone Will Liverman, who is set to headline the Met premiere of Davis and Davis’ “X: The Life and Times of Malcolm”; and tenor René Barbera, who performed in the Met’s recent production of “Der Rosenkavalier.” Met Assistant Conductor Dimitri Dover will lead the musicians.

Four additional recitals will showcase rising opera stars Erika Baikoff and Cierra Byrd of the Met’s Lindemann Young Artist Development Program and Thomas Glass, a winner of the 2019 Eric and Dominique Laffont Competition. Assistant Conductor Juan José Lázaro, a member of the Lindemann Young Artist Program, will accompany the singers on piano.

The young artist concerts will take place at Jackie Robinson Park (Manhattan) on June 24, Williamsbridge Oval (Bronx) on June 26, Socrates Sculpture Park (Queens) on June 28, and Clove Lakes Park (Staten Island) on June 30. No tickets are required for these events.
