Merola Opera Program Announces Changes to 2021 Slate Due to COVID-19
By David SalazarMerola Opera Program in San Francisco, California has announced updates to the Merola Grand Finale scheduled for July 31, 2021.
Per a press release, due to “an occurrence in which artist health and safety COVID protocols were compromised by a number of participants,” the organization has decided to proceed with a reduced number of onsite participants and a focus on virtual training.
Audiences will still be allowed to engage with the Grand Finale concert as it will be presented as an outdoor performance. The event will take place at the Golden Gate Park Bandshell.
“It was a heartbreaking decision, but the safety of our young artists and production team is paramount,” Jean Kellogg, Executive Director of the Merola Opera Program, said in a press release.
