Menotti, Puccini, Mozart Dominate Mission Opera’s 2019-20 Season

The Los Angeles-based Mission Opera has announced its 2019-20 season, which will feature four classic works.

The season kicks off with a double bill of “Suor Angelica” and “Gianni Schicchi.” The performances will take place at the Los Angeles Mission College and Santa Clarita United Methodist Church with Dylan F. Thomas directing the two works. Soprano Shira Reese will take on the title role of Suor Angelica.

Performance Dates: Oct. 18-20, 2019

Amahl and the Night Visitors” will be showcased in December with mezzo-soprano Suzanna Guzmán starring. She has sung the role of the Mother over 100 times. Performances will take place at Los Angeles Mission College and Santa Clarita United Methodist Church.

Performance Dates: Dec. 8-10, 2019

The season comes to a close with Mozart’s “Don Giovanni.” The company promises a full moving set for the production in what will be its “biggest show yet!” The locations are still to be determined.
