The Mendelssohn Choir of Pittsburgh is set to present “Coming Home,” a free concert that explores the search for home.

Scheduled for March 9 and 10, the event will feature music by female composers, LGBTQ+ composers, and composers of color, with texts in English, German, Spanish, and Estonian. Also on the program is a work by Indian-American composer Reena Esmail and “Make Our Garden Grow” from Leonard Bernstein’s “Candide.”

“We all look for places where we can feel like we belong, where we have a sense of belonging, safety and purpose. This season, I also came into a new musical home with the Mendelssohn Choir, and the chorus and I are building a new sense of community together,” said Music Director Daniel Singer per an official press statement. “All the pieces fell into place for this to be the perfect theme for this moment.”
The March 9 performance will take place at Westminster Presbyterian Church in Upper St. Clair while the second performance on March 10 will take place at East Liberty Presbyterian Church in East Liberty.
