The Melba Opera Trust, in association with Melbourne Digital Concert Hall, will offer “Her Legacy in Concert,” to celebrate 160 years of the birth of Australian artist Dame Nellie Melba, next May 19 at 7 p.m.

The concert will be broadcast live from the Athenaeum in Melbourne, Australia, and will be hosted by Mairi Nicolson of The Opera Show on ABC Radio. All the artists who will be on stage have been trained by the Melba Opera Trust, through the world-renowned scholarship program that was established thanks to Melba’s legacy. Among the current Melba Artists set to perform are Katherine Allen, Emilia Bertolini, Nathan Bryon, Su Choung, Chloe Harris, Louis Hurley, and Georgia Melville.

Audiences will also get to see Melba Alumni Artists including Emily Edmonds, Samuel Sakker, and Rebecca Gulinello.

“Dame Nellie Melba’s legacy continues in 2021 through the emerging voices and established careers of the artists performing in this concert,” said Melba Opera Trust CEO, Amy Black in a press release. “The Melba program has been carefully designed to align with her philosophy. Since launching in 2009, it has prepared 52 Australian artists for international opera careers.”
