The Zenith Opera Competition has announced the winners of its 2023 edition.

Taking home first prize was American singer mezzo Megan Moore.

During the 2022-23 season, Moore was a cover at the Met Opera in “Dialogues des Carmélites” and was also covering at Opera Philadelphia in Rossini’s “Otello.” She also participated in the Operalia Competition in 2022.

In second place was German soprano Johanna Will.

“This was one of the most welcoming and friendly, encouraging energy audition experiences I have ever had. It really lets us do our best. I felt like the panel truly wants us to do well,” said Will in a statement to OperaWire following her second-place finish.

The German singer is a graduate of Mannes School of Music and was a winner of the Met Opera’s National Council District for Iowa. She has also been a participant of the Merola Opera Program.

And in third place was U.S. singer Thomas Glass. This season, he has been covering at the San Francisco Opera and has performed with such organizations as Palm Beach Opera and Minnesota Opera.

The jury for the final round was comprised of David Lomeli, Boris Ignatov, Khori Dastoor, Alex Fernández, and Neil Barry Moss.
