
Measha Brueggergosman-Lee to Celebrate Life of Portia White
By David SalazarOn April 11, Measha Brueggergosman-Lee will present a concert in celebration of Portia White.
White was Canada’s first Black, international music star, and a teacher at Branksome Hall in Toronto, Ontario, where the concert will take place.
The showcase will include a pre-recorded tribute from the soprano. Also on hand will be Dr. George Elliott Clarke, a poet and author who is also the great-nephew of White, and Karen Jurjevich, the Principal at Branksome Hall.
“It’s my great pleasure to contribute to this celebration of a Canadian musical pioneer, for whom wider name recognition is long overdue, as we honour her place, her voice and her legacy as a groundbreaking force on the world’s concert stage,” said Brueggergosman-Lee in an official press statement.
