Max Emanuel Cencic, Franco Fagioli & Vivica Genaux Lead Bayreuth Baroque 2020 Online Edition

Max Emanuel Cencic, the Artistic Director of the Bayreuth Baroque Festival, has announced that the Festival Online Edition will take place from Sep. 8 – Sep. 13, 2020.

Full performances will be broadcast on the Bayreuth Baroque Festival Facebook Page.

For the purposes of this article, we will focus only on the vocal works.

Here is the rundown.

French contralto Delphine Galou will perform works by Gregori, Stradella, Corelli, Torelli, Castello, Monteverdi, Porpora, Vivaldi, and Jommeli. Alessandro Tampieri conducts The Accademia Bizantina.

Drama per Musica “Carlo il Calvo” by Nicola Antonio Porpora will star Max Emanuel Cencic, Franco Fagioli, Suzanne Jerosme, Julia Lezhneva, Nian Wang, Bruno de Sá, and Petr Nekoranec.

George Petrou will play the harpsichord and conduct the production by Max Emanuel Cencic.

Broadcast dates: Sep. 9 – 10, 2020

Drama per musica “Gismondo, Re di Polonia” by Antonio Vinci will showcase Max Emanuel Cencic, Dilyara Idrisova, Yuriy Mynenko, Aleksandra Kubas-Kruk, Sophie Junker, Jake Arditti, and Vasily Khoroshev. Martyna Pastuszka will play the violin and conduct.

Mezzo-soprano Vivica Genaux will perform arias by Johann Adolf Hasse. Wolfgang Katzschner will conduct.

Broadcast date: Sep. 12, 2020

Mezzo-soprano Romina Basso will perform works by Carissimi, Strozzi, Rossi, and Provenzale. Markellos Chryssicos wil play the hapsichord, organ, and conduct.
