
Matthias Goerne & Daniil Trifonov To Present Recital at Carnegie Hall
By Francisco SalazarMatthias Goerne and Daniil Trifonov will present “An Exquisite Song Cycle” on Oct. 19 at the Stern Auditorium / Perelman Stage in Carnegie Hall.
During the Sunday matinee, audiences will take an unforgettable journey through Schubert’s “Die schöne Müllerin” set to poetry by Wilhelm Müller.
The program will last approximately one hour with no intermission.
Goerne is one of the most sought-after singers on the international scene, who has performed at many of the leading houses in the world, including the Metropolitan Opera, London’s Royal Opera House, Teatro alla Scala, Teatro Real in Madrid, the Paris Opera, and the Wiener Staatsoper.
Between 2001 and 2005, Matthias Goerne taught song interpretation as an honorary professor at the Robert Schumann Academy of Music in Düsseldorf. In 2001, he was made an Honorary Member of the Royal Academy of Music in London. A native of Weimar, he studied with Hans-Joachim Beyer in Leipzig, and then with Elisabeth Schwarzkopf and Dietrich Fischer-Dieskau.
