Matthias Goerne, Caroline Wettergreen & Gyula Orendt Lead Staatsoper Berlin’s ‘Die Zauberflöte’

The Staatsoper Unter den Linden will present the August Everding’s production of Mozart‘s singspiel “Die Zauberflöte” in December 2021.

The opera stars Matthias Goerne and Grigory Shkarupa in the role of Sarastro; Siyabonga Maqungo and Peter Sonn as Tamino; Caroline Wettergreen as Die Königin der Nacht; Evelin Novak as Pamina; Gyula Orendt and Arttu Kataja as Papageno; Liubov Medvedeva as Papagena; and Florian Hoffmann as Monostatos. The cast also includes Magnus Dietrich, Georg Nigl, David Oštrek, Anna Samuil, Natalia Skrycka, Ema Nikolovska, Marina Prudenskaya, Andrés Moreno García, and Žilvinas Miškinis.

Giuseppe Mentuccia and Anna Milukova conduct. Dorothée Uhrmacher is responsible for costumes, while light is by Franz Peter David.

The run of Everding’s production of Mozart’s “Die Zauberflöte” at the Staatsoper Unter den Linden is set to begin on Dec. 2, and will last until Dec. 27, 2021.
