Matthew Polenzani Cancels Ravinia Festival Concert

The tenor made the announcement via Instagram citing a health reason. The tenor noted, “My dear friends and family, dear fans in the Chicago area, I’m sorry to let you know that I have to withdraw from the ‘CSO: Italian Opera Favorites’ concert at the Ravinia Festival on August 11. This has been a tough year for me healthwise, but I am confident I will be back this fall at Lyric Opera of Chicago for Idomeneo. Until then I offer you all my sincerest apologies and my grateful thanks to the Ravinia Festival who have been completely supportive and fabulous during this time. I wish you all a wonderful and restful summer.”
The tenor was expected to perform a concert alongside Nadine Sierra and the Chicago Symphony Orchestra on August 11, 2018. As a result, Bryan Hymel will replace the Polenzani.
Polenzani is expected to return to the stage in the fall for a production of “Idomeneo” at the Lyric Opera of Chicago and will also perform at the Teatro Massimo in “La Bohème.” he is also expected to make his role debut as Vaudemont in “Iolanta’ at the Metropolitan Opera.
