Matt Bomer to Star in Leonard Bernstein film ‘Maestro’

Matt Bomer has been cast in the upcoming biopic “Maestro” about Leonard Bernstein.

Variety is reporting that Bomer will play Bernstein’s lover in the film that will be directed and star Bradley Cooper. According to the source, Bomer will play a clarinetist with whom Bernstein had a brief relationship.

Cooper also co-wrote the screenplay to the film, which will mark the follow-up to his Oscar-winning “A Star Is Born.” The film will also star Carey Mulligan, who will play Bernstein’s wife Felicia Montealegre.

Bomer is a well-known actor who has starred in “The Boys in the Band,” “Magic Mike,” “American Horror Story,” “Will and Grace,” and “White Collar.” He won a Golden Globe for his turn in the critically acclaimed “The Normal Heart.”

Netflix will release the film.
