MasterVoices & Beth Morrison Projects To Present NY Premiere of Rock-Opera ‘Iron & Coal’

MasterVoices is set to perform Jeremy Schonfeld’s rock-opera “Iron & Coal” on Jan. 10 and 11 at the Gerald W. Lynch Theater at John Jay University in New York. The performances will represent the New York premiere for the work.

The rock-opera, which relates the Holocaust experience endured by Schonfeld’s family, features tenor Daniel Rowan alongside, Rinde Eckert, Schonfeld, the Brooklyn Youth Chorus and the music ensemble Contemporaneous.

The performance will be directed by Kevin Newbury with the David Bloom conducting and providing musical arrangements. Production Design will be by S. Katy Tucker with Japhy Weideman as Lighting Designer and Tyler Kieffer as Sound Designer. Animation Designer will be provided by Tom Seltzer with Choreography by Natalie Lomonte.

“Iron & Coal” will be presented by Beth Morrison Projects and co-presented by the PROTOTYPE Festival.
