By Francisco Salazar

The Toledo Opera has announced its 2026-27 season featuring two productions.

Toledo Opera General Director James M. Norman said, “Bringing Verdi’s ‘Aida’ back to our stage for the first time in more than a decade is a thrilling homecoming, and pairing it with ‘HMS Pinafore’—our first Gilbert and Sullivan operetta in over twenty years—shows the exciting breadth of what Toledo Opera can offer. Together, these productions celebrate the power of grand opera and the joy of comic operetta, and we can’t wait to share them with our community.”

The season opens with Verdi’s “Aida” featuring soprano Mary Elizabeth Williams as Aida, tenor Brendan Boyle as Radamès, contralto Lauren Decker as Princess Amneris, and baritone Nmon Ford as Amonasro.

Performance Dates: Oct. 16 & 18, 2026 at the Valentine Theatre

Arthur Sullivan & W.S. Gilbert’s H.M.S. Pinafore” is set to star tenor Mike Schwitter as Ralph Rackstraw, soprano Emily Casey as Josephine, baritone Keith Phares as Captain Corcoran, and Nicholas Wuehrman as Sir Joseph Porter and stage director.
